South KOREA - Day 3

… continued from Day 2

It was end of March… the snow starts melting (nampak mcm botak2 dah). As usual, we never missed any chance to take our photo with the snow mountain as the background, from our room’s balcony before we went down for breakfast and check-out.

Arrived at Everland’s parking area precisely at 10:20am. Then, queue up for the free shuttle bus to the Everland Theme Park’s entrance. The admission fee is at 440,000 won for adult (one-day pass). It’s Saturday! Everywhere we go, we need to queue for at least 30minutes *sigh* totally super peak, okeh!! 4 hours there was NOT enough, and I think I only managed to cover 15% of this huge park. Plus, it’s built at the hills area; we can’t see the whole view from the entrance. We need to explore! In other term = a lot of walking, my dear.
My findings:
1) Global Fair : K-Pop Hologram (show of Big Bang, 2NE1 and PSY) was fun even though it’s not real; a lot of souvenir shop + cosmetic shop including Face Shop and Etude house.
2) American Adventure : a lot of dizzying rides, but I don’t have enough time to try any of it.
3) Magic Land : colourful and beautiful building designs (similar like Disneyland) but with unfamiliar cartoon character – especially the mascot and the one at Aesop’s Village; we took the children indoor boat rides at Globe Village (just because not many people queuing and the “oppa” officer is too handsome) – this one is similar like ‘It’s a Small World’ at HK Disneyland;
4) European Adventure : it’s Tulip Festival with different colours, type, sizes & smells of Tulips, especially at Secret Garden at Magic Garden offers various type of flowers besides tulips.
Language barrier! We rushed to watch the Madagascar Live show and our ticket supposedly all-in ticket as mentioned but the officer does not allow us to enter the place and we cannot understand their explanation in Korean. Same happened at the American Adventure area, but at least I understand the officer’s body language telling us that some attractions are for kids only. Festival Train is circling around the Magic Garden. At the Alpine Carnival, I found the delicious curros at 3,000 won per stick. I didn’t try the killer and thriller T-Express roller coaster even though I’m a roller coaster’s rider ‘cause it was raining for the whole day. Safety is my concern! I heard from other guest, there’s additional charge for that roller coaster. i don't have time to see the parade :(
5) Zoo-Topia : the Dark Forest is not recommended to go cause it’s boring!; due to long queue at Safari World, especially when the school children who keep cutting my line, I finally decided to skip.
curros!

with Do Min-Joo ^^

Entering the Seoul City, our first stop is the Massage Centre. We’ve been pampered with the massage chair, soaking our feet in the hot water, Ginseng Mask, Herbal drink and the local cookies – same cookies with the one in “the Strange Houskeeper” drama, it’s delicious!.
Let’s learn how to make a Kim Chi at the Kimchi School!! There are over than hundred different kinds of Kimchi, but we learn to make the most simple and famous one. It is as easy as ABC. Then, we need to return that fresh kimchi ‘cause it’s not the best to consume. The best one is more than 2 months fermented. We are given a free testing for few types of kimchi before we went downstairs and try the traditional Korean costume of “Han-Bok”. I got the chance to wear the Queen’s dress Yes! No accessories included. While the rest including my sister is wearing the ordinary people’s dress (lengan dia ade belang2 tu). Hahahahaha gelak jahat!

Next, we went to one of the busiest street in Seoul at Mapo-gu, nearby Hongik University. We can see the youngsters or the college student with their K-Pop style, well-groom, muka plastic-surgery, and some are spoken in English very loudly. We went downstairs to the Ice Museum + TrickEye Museum. The Ice Museum, well it’s an ice world, definitely damn cold like sitting in the igloo. There’s an iced Cinderella’s Carriage, Santa’s reindeer carrier, angel’s wing and a bedroom completed with the iced bed and other furniture also made from ice. I only can stand there not more than 10minutes. Grrrr sejukkk!!! While the TrickEye Museum, it’s a 3D illusion art gallery. At first, it was fun but then too many paintings and I’m already gets tired to get the best pose. They placed the Mirror Maze at the exit door. It was totally confusing, adventure and in the same time of course it was awesome. I was walked like a blind person. Another museum is Love Museum – but strictly only for adult.

Hot Chicken Herb for dinner at Korean Healthfood Restaurant. The chicken portion is too big for 1 person and they served the chicken soup with misua noodle. We, Malays are not used to eat any Herb / Ginseng food. So we enjoyed shopping at the outside of the restaurant instead.

For 2 nights, we stayed at Courtyard by Marriott, next to Times Square shopping mall. Unfortunately almost shop and mall in South Korea are closed at 9pm, and we reached hotel after 9. The room at this 4 star hotel is very big, comfortable, modern and wide glass bathroom with bathtub. Since it was raining for the whole day, I was not feeling well. So I just stayed in the room, rest and surfing internet (free wifi). Along took a night walk nearby hotel, but like I said most shop already closed. I’m not worry ‘bout her so much ‘cause Along know Korean better than myself. She learn Hangul, she even can read the character and she know almost everything about Korea.

** the hotel's lobby is at the 5th floor. you'll be needed to take an elevator from the entrance to the 5th floor. free wifi at the lobby; and for free wifi in the guest room; you'll be needed to do a simple registration at the reception
*** no strict security check at the entrance @ Everland. you can bring in mineral water and snacks.
