Kuching 2015

kasi layan dulu satu video Ulat Sagu.
kalau nak dapat kulit cerah, silalah makan banyak2 ulat sagu ni ye #tips dari orang Sarawak

trip kali ni lain sedikit dgn last year. kali ni quite leisure, we went to visit Matang Orang Utan Wildlife Centre, also shopping at Serikin Border Market, we stayed at Imperial Hotel and we tried different supplier of
Kek Lapis Sarawak.

in term of the location, IMPERIAL HOTEL Kuching is quite far from Kuching Waterfront. anyhow, this 4 star hotel is good, clean, nice room, connected to Boulevard Shopping Mall and close to the Kuching International Airport.

this time, we visited MATANG WILDLIFE CENTRE. this wildlife centre is different than the one in Semenggoh. Semenggoh is located at the southern part from Kuching City, meanwhile Matang is situated at Kubah National Park, northern part from Kuching City, not too far away from Sarawak Cultural Village. In Semenggoh, they let those Orang Utan live freely in the nature forest, but not in Matang. i'm not saying they keep those Orang Utan in the cage. Matang is more to rehabilitation centre. or, a mini-zoo!! cause besides Orang Utan, there are other animals you can find here such as crocodile, sun bear, hornbills and lots more. exploring this wildlife centre is quite tiring, please wear a comfortable shoes. a lot of walking

remember George? he is here, in Matang. no, he cannot jump off thru that wall. no worries. macam kesian je kan tengok Orang Utan kat sini. maybe because of the location, Matang centre is not as famous as Semenggoh. i can see from their faces that every visitor who came here brings joy and happiness to them. they only sit at one corner silently when there is no visitor, but when there is, they do swinging ~ maybe just to showing off their huge bodies, who knows?

nope, they are not performing Sarawak traditional dances in Norway. this picture is taken at the upper deck of SARAWAK RIVER CRUISE, cruising along the Sarawak River. i don't understand why must they put other countries flag on the boat.

cuba teka rumah istana siapa ni? at the riverbank of Sarawak River.

let's travel for 2 hours drive to SERIKIN WEEKEND (opens on every Saturday & Sunday only) MARKET at the border of Malaysia-Indonesia. what can we find here?

geram je tengok kain2 kat sini. murah2 pulak tu. if not because i'm getting married that time, for sure i'll buy those embroidery material, telekung, pillow case and curtain.

buah salak dan buah engkala. ok, buah salak tu dah biasa makan - easily to find even in Peninsular  (west) Malaysia. pernah dengar buah Engkala? tu yang warna hijau (muda lagi) dan merah jambu (yg ni kira dah masak). cara makan dia; mula2 tanggalkan 'kepala' dia (cabut je), pastu rendam dalam air panas (mcm masak buah dabai - buah Sarawak jugak). then, ready to eat. my Sarawakian staff told me, kena pukul2 sket kalau nak bagi kurang rasa kelat yg boleh buat org pening kepala.
 dried food. mostly from Indonesia

handicraft. some floor mat was made from rattan such as "tikar lampit", some from woods, bamboo etc

imitation product, alahaiii. MK tu. yang lagi satu ni ni aku tak gemar ssgt. pendants with Kalimah ALLAH. most seller are Indonesian, kurang peka ke hape tak taulah

balik dari Pasar Serikin, berhenti sekejap kat pasar tepi jalan

raw pepper corns and pitcher plant for sale.
yg belah kanan tu, nasi & inti sambal udang masak dalam periuk kera tu. RM1 each.
ulat sagu.. sekor seringgit (RM1 each).
my client really ate those sago worms and they love it. like eating butter, they said.
'lemak berkrim disukai ramai'
ni paling gempak. Kain Songket Sarawak ni RM 12.50 satu.
paling murah lah. kalah harga kat Waterfront dan Serikin.

Jom pergi kedai Kek Lapis Dayang Salhah pulak jom for the famous Sarawak LAYER CAKE.
Kedai ni kat Kampung Gersik, seberang Sungai Sarawak; nearby local mosque.
lupa nak ambil gambar dlm kedai, tapi kedai Dayang Salhah ni besar. jauh lagi besar dari Hamidah.
kalau Kek Lapis ni aku prefer yang kukus punya drpd bakar. so aku try Kek "Hati Pari", prune & other fruits flavor. dengar cerita kukus kek ni selama 8jam, boleh tahan selama 4 bulan kalau simpan dalam fridge.

depan kedai Dayang Salhah ada jual Ikan Terubok Masin.
paling best ada jual telur ikan terubok masin ni, RM300 for 1kg. dulu gile susah nak dapat ni

last but not least,
Kuching Waterfront

lupa nak cerita pasal makan.. we all makan kat The Banquet (chinese style but damn delicious),
buffet lunch at Sarawak Cultural Village (makan kat hall depan theater), dinner at Sarawak Golf Club, at Aroma Cafe and Top Spot Seafood (foodcourt atas UTC)
