FRIM Open Day

Lepas aktiviti panjat memanjat Broga Hill aritu, we planned to go for cycling at Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM). tapi banyak pulak aral nye. knowing my sister has been there before for their Company's Teambuilding, aku tanya macam2 soklan la kat dia. then, couple weeks ago she sent me this:-

the best part : masuk adalah percuma. tapi yang tak best nye pulak : pre-registration for Canopy Walkway dah full! the other activities offer for kids only. the organizer suggested me to join the "Tree Identification".. hmmm memang TAKK lah. saya kenal pokok as "pokok" jek. 

Arriving there nearly 10am (sebab enchik driver bangon lambat). together with my sister and her kids, let's explore! punya lah besar FRIM ni ghupe-ghupenyer. pusing punya pusing (follow jek kereta depan) sampai la kitorang kat Zone 7 - we parked our car at Pameran Buku / Bicycle Rental / Food Stall / Car Boot Sale. while having our breakfast, we watched the "Perlumbaan Basikal Perlahan" at Zone 8 a.k.a Tennis Court. Then, my sister dapat souvenir after joining the "Teka Binatang" contest kat Zone 5 - Zon Biodiversiti Hutan. dapat hadiah sagu hati jek sebab ada sekor binatang kitorang tak pasti spesis ape huhuhu. ada jugak pertandingan Kolaj, Jigsaw Puzzle etc.

For us, the most interesting and informative section is Zone 6 - Pameran Kayu, Buluh & Rotan. ada berpuluh2 jenis kayu, buluh dan rotan yang kita tak tahu. dan yang kite tahu, kayu boleh buat perabot (ok, itu terlalu common). tapi buluh jugak boleh dibuat perabot tau. boleh jugak buat pallet makanan haiwan, and coming soon - bahan letupan. ada 1001 kegunaan buluh dan rotan, too many to write. bestnye lahaiii kalau rumah aku nanti pakai bamboo parquet, seriously lembut di tapak kaki =) macam jalan atas awan

 

By time we had arrived Zone 3, it's already 12:30pm. so there's nothing here. Aktiviti menyumpit pon dah takde. Boring lah, jom ke Zone 4 sebab ada "Lawatan ke Makmal Penyelidikan" - boleh jugak tengok kanak2 buat DNA / Genetic experiment, Cloning & Tissue Culture, Biji Benih Asli vs Buatan. the researcher show us the process of making the Tongkat Ali synthetic (aku tak boleh concentrate sgt sebab my nephew dok kacau2 aku time explanation tu hmmm). ada bahagian Herbs & Ulam as well as aktiviti memanjat pokok. hmmm i was thought demonstration panjat pokok tanpa tali macam monyet tu. ok, no thanks! 

There's nothing special at Zone 2 - ada few food stall jek. hence we proceed to Zone 1 - ada Museum dan ada Doodle drawing (balik tu baru tau one of the sketchers is my close friend). Pertandingan Museum Hunt, Bowling Hutan & Dam Gergasi pon dah habis dah. Thought nak get involve in "Teka Koordinat Peta Topo" tapi queue agak panjang and peta ada sebijik je, so malas lah!

Sampai ke sudah aku takde nampak 'buggy services' walhal i saw 6 buggy stations in the maps. ntahlaaaa. Allright, looking forward to come again for the Canopy Walkway, Cycling dan Mandi Sungai! till then...
